OBSTRUCTURES// has been designing and manufacturing aluminum instruments since 1999. Originally built and sold under the name ABC GROUP DESIGN+DOCUMENTATION the first instruments were made for the band NEW BRUTALISM//. Partnered with BASFORD AMPLIFICATION custom aluminum clad tube amps and speaker cabinets have also been manufactured for the band. Since then we have produced close to 20 instruments for clients around the globe. Performance has always been the design intent, resulting in a ‘guitar as tool’ aesthetic. To satisfy the demands of left handed players the instruments have always been ambidextrous to avoid the compromise involved in flipping a standard guitar.
