Pallet Shelter: Waste is a Thief Competition Realization

As a realization of the ‘Waste is a Thief’ entry to the Gimme Shelter Competition for the Schuylkill Center in Philadelphia, OBSTRUCTURES members built a shelter from found materials including pallets, corrugated metal, scrap metal tubing, and scrap lumber and plywood. The only thing purchased was fasteners.

The structure is a modular system consisting of a dimensional lumber frame and pallet and sheet good infill panels. It is soon to be clad by University Of Tennessee architecture students as part of the ARCH-425 BRUT-TECH class and moved to its new home on the site of the Parkridge Community Garden in East Knoxville to serve as a tool shed.
