A Light Occupation
A condemned building deserves one more chance; one more possibility for use and this installation serves the last rights. Glowing fluorescent panels were hoisted into the frames of the boarded up windows, turning on the lights one more time signifying a cold lifeless occupation. For one night this decrepit hulk of a building has one last chance to be a star, and for five hours it shines.
Instead of work being removed from its context to be placed in the ‘gallery” - the program of the gallery has been hijacked and transplanted in the street of the city. The practical logistics of the project provided temporal restraint: the installation would last as long as the batteries had the life to sustain its cold glow.
